I'm not 100% into reality shows and we've clearly had WAY too many TV shows surrounding themselves in "vocal" talent....the difference that I like about this one is that

#1 the judges can't visually see the singers at first until they push a button to turn their chairs around

#2 if all 4 judges on the panel push the button to turn their chair around, then the singer that is on stage can pick who they would personally like to have as their vocal coach... (I like that twist)

So I may be WAAAAY late with this one since Europe has had them around for such a long time (since 2006)...but it couldn't hurt for the USA to get one in certain places too (specifically around bar areas), I could name a few places: Adams Morgan, U St., K St., Dupont Circle, H St. NE, every "park" in the middle of the city.

It's a simple concept with a HUGE payback in a good way, the sweet smell of regular air, not one that someones been urinating on all night long would be a GREAT way to start the day wouldn't it?

Every so often our ear drums are scared for life (ex: anything by Ke$ha) and then there are times where you can't stop talking about a band that you've just learned about that you want to share with all of your friends after you hit "play"...this group/ song is one of those.

The group WARPAINT won my ear drums after an amazing friend who has a keen skill for effortlessly scouting out musical talent sent me this YouTube video....because now-a-days the only groups that get played on mainstream radio are looped terrible songs (ex: Black Eyed Peas)....when the merge between major label executives & corporate radio executives decided that whatever they feel work will be played 24 hours a day...womp womp...

The group WarPaint's song "Bees" reminds me of the 90's when alternative/semi-indie rock bands began to blend with danceable beats (think Luscious Jackson), while playing with simple styles & sounds...it's a sound that I can dig and maybe you will too:

Good Programs on TV...

Are there any good shows left for the rest of us that have yet to discover? I hope so, I haven't been finding much on the larger networks and I feel like every time I turn on my TV, I become dumber for watching some new Reality TV show. Can we start calling them something else? Because lets be honest here for a second, those shows are scripted and are far from reality, they just use regular cameras and cast the DUMBEST HUMANS TO POSSIBLY ROAM THE EARTH, therefore calling it "Reality" ???...also, what has happened to our TV culture as a whole. Do you see yourself as more intelligent than you were 10 years ago? Or do you find yourself stuck, or what I see myself becoming....dumber.

I feel like I need to start only watching the following programs to keep my IQ up: Jeopardy, News Hour (PBS/ WETA), any historical documentary that holds significance to how our society is being shaped as a whole or repeating itself, Road Trip Nation (PBS), and anything on CURRENT TV (the network). Everything else is pure fluff...and it's not that I don't like that (because we all want to mentally escape our work lives/ days), but lets be honest, ALL the programs on TV are fluff. Nothing is original anymore, it's just a remixed version of something we saw in the 70's, 80's, or even the 90's. It's been done before. I am fearful that our most intelligent, witty and creative people have been axed by major networks because they're not drinking the Koolaid like the rest of them and for that simple fact, I will have to ban my TV. This doesn't include FILMS...only TV shows.

I don't even have cable and guess who benefits from that...me, because my pockets are fatter with cash than those who waste $100's on those crappy shows that you could watch online for free anyways, just delayed by 1 day or something. I don't know about you, but I want to enjoy my cash by GOING SOMEWHERE...not just my couch.

I call her the light skinned Lady Gaga of hip hop.....not kidding. With her candy cotton looking hair, snake Egyption nails etc....body suits. She's like a cartoon character, which I do dig because I LOOOOOOOOVE girls with a SHOW-OFF style (which she clearly has). She's cute too, her NY accent reminds me of an SNL skit (which I also dig). I'm not so sure I really like her trying to come off as "street"...all of that gets erased as soon as she opens her mouth and how she's dressed. If she walked the streets up in the Bronx you KNOW something would happen to her, hands down. So she walks in "her" area that she knows. I'm tired of the online "freestyle battles" anyways....that mess died when hip hop started falling off and going zig zagged etc.

It's just a show, nothing authentic, but because her lyrics can be highly entertaining (like the female version of Lil Wayne), I must give her some props for her cartoon style, and animated version she gives off to her audience. Here's some other clips of her from Lopez Tonight where you can learn a bit more about HER as a person etc. (she's got a sh** load of haters), that much I do know from other blogs and she did bother me when I first saw her because LADY GAGA already exists, this is just another variation of the copy cat. But most girls hate pretty girls anyways, so that's understandable and clearly what's happening in this "hateraide" as well, haha.

Things I've learned from this past week

I'm going to erase the entire day yesterday since nothing positive came out of it, except that I won't be homeless next year :-) Hurray!!!!

But here's some REAL news:

- More US women earn Ph.D's than men (I know that's right ladies!)

- Hand sanitizer (alcohol based) doesn't significantly decrease our chances of getting a cold, or the flu...turns out that the plain old "washing your hands frequently" is the ONLY real solution to preventing yourself from catching a cold...so I guess I'll stop buying any more hand sanitizer since it's really not going to do crap for me & it's a gimick. GOOD TO KNOW, I've now just saved some additional money from never buying those things again.

-Crime has fallen in the past year (& this is for the 3rd straight year)...which is surprising considering that not that many people have jobs anymore, and most are still struggling.

The problem with recessions...

There are MANY reasons why this "recession" sucks. Have you read the news as of late? The economy still sucks, there are hiring freezes still all over the place (stay where you are and never leave cause there's not many other options out there). But now DUE to there being no jobs available to hire folks people are starting to make up their own jobs....this is called the job of "robbing" others. This has always happened recession or no recession, BUT...doesn't it seem to be on the rise due to people being desperate and needing to find ways to pay off whatever it is they're paying off, or if it's just to keep them from going homeless.

A very good friend of mine was robbed yesterday, her home, almost everything was taken out. Turns out that the robbers did this to several other houses that same day on the same block while everyone was out at work. This isn't a rough area to live in, but sh** does happen anywhere so....

moral of the story: get a dog, get an alarm system for the house, maybe get a gun? (it's the Americans dream right?)

So she was performing with Insane Clown Posse....she got on stage with 4 body guards or people just waiting to block her from getting hit in the face with a water bottles, beer bottles etc......lets be honest, her "music" or whatever that was playing in this clip is pure GARBAGE....the audience was just trying to prove a point, sex might sell, but "talent" is either there or not, in her case "NOT".....so can I blame people for wanting her to get off the stage when they came to see Insane Clown Posse instead? Nope, not at all, I'd do the same thing they did if I could aim....but I can't. Point is talent doesn't come out of everyone, and also....if you're following a group called INSANE CLOWN POSSE, wouldn't you think that any "reality TV" star would just ask for it by showing up there?....common sense isn't in all of us...sorry for you Tila.

When you watch this, its kinda like a game that you'd play at a fair where you're trying to hit the target but things keep blocking your way...ya know?

Missing the Simple Days...

Remember (well some of you at least), when you were a little kid and used to BEG your parents to be able to hang outside & play until the sun went down just because you didn't wanna get stuck in doors?...or when you just wanted to meet up with your friends to catch a movie and then hang out and had a specific time where you would get picked up by your parents or guardian, you had to memorize your friends phone numbers and if someone couldn't be reached you'd get a busy signal and then kept moving in your life? You didn't CONSTANTLY feel like you had to be connected to the world, you didn't panic unless you left your wallet w/ your money somewhere?

I am seriously missing those days where we'd sit back in a huge grassy field and kick it, make jokes, blow bubbles with our mouths & just be KIDS! Maybe the corporate world is finally starting to kick my a**...but whatever it is, I am seriously on the verge of loosing my sh** and I mean it this time. I need to re-evaluate this thing called LIFE.

I am starting to realize how much TV I do NOT want to watch and how little creative, witty, funny, entertaining programs there are for us to pick from. That goes for summer time movies too. There have been WAY too many over-produced films that cost millions of $$$ to make that were pure crap that ended up going straight to DVD.

Do you remember the last time you were actually PATIENTLY waiting for something, anything? I can hardly remember how that felt. I find myself feeling like the world is going to end if the page I'm looking up on the internet doesn't pop up fast enough...I want my text messages to go through when I send them double the speed it normally takes them. But seriously...for what? Why am I trying so hard to get something done so quickly? What's the rush? Sometimes I have a good reason, but most of the time, it's just because I really feel like there is a need for a speedy process for things to get done in life. Which is actually the OPPOSITE of how anything in life gets done. Nothing is fast, it's like an optical illusion that we've tricked ourselves into thinking needs to be "the way"...so I'm going to take a chill pill for awhile and let the old times roll, turn off my cell, write more on paper and less on the computer and re-learn what the real "speed" of humans feels like and IS. Not technology. We'll see how this goes. Maybe I'll even loose my road rage!.........big "maybe" on that one.

I'm one of them...because I just found this website (recommended by a good friend), in case I didn't want to leave my apartment to go across the street to pick up items that I needed from the drug store....somehow this site called ALICE.COM is going to handle that for me, ship it to me for free without adding on any additional fee's just so I don't have to hit up CVS on my walk home from work. Handy site? YES...there are MANY times when I seriously cannot STAND dealing with waiting in a line full of sweaty gross people after work just to buy a roll of toilet paper. If you lived where I lived you'd understand the pain that I'm speaking of. But I also find it kind of astonishing that this is provided in the city, when I literally can see the CVS from my apartment balcony. I'm guessing that this was really supposed to benefit those that decided to live out in the sticks where there isn't a drug store for miles. THEN this site would make perfect sense for someone in need like that, I guess I'm not the demographic they're looking for, but I sure am lazy...so maybe I AM the demographic.....hmmmmmm. On a lazy sweaty hot weeknight....I really might just use this website to get my drug store shopping done so I don't have to miss my marathon of It's Always Sunny in Philly....I'm just saying.

I'm single, I'm classy (most of the time), I do not live in NYC although I have this sick love/hate relationship with the place...and I most definitely do not have a group of 4 girls who I can depend on to meet me at a diner for "girl time"......My style is a bit more like this (I like to think at least). I'm single, have male friends that I can turn to when I have a relationship question (since I'm a female, I already know what other females think/ feel/ want etc.) so I don't really waste my time on asking my girls their opinions because I have already made up my mind and then ask a guy friend what they think. I meet up with my friends at bars and I drink Whiskey on the rocks with a separate glass for Ginger ale. I eat tatter tots..... what does that make me??? I do like to get dressed up from time to time, but that sh** takes TIME and effort and most guys don't have to bother, so why should I?...I digress...this is supposed to be my review about the newly released film, "Sex and the city 2" so here we go guys & gals.

I used to like the main character Carrie, she's easy to identify with, has had a similar relationship for a long period of time that I've personally been through (without the marriage part), she's got very different fashion taste, but doesn't care what anyone else thinks, she just goes for it and I respect that A LOT. This movie is about her marriage (spoiler alert for those who haven't seen the first Sex And the City movie...). She's been married to BIG for about 2 years according to where this story picks up from, now all of her friends are also married to the men they love and all seems right and well in the world (minus Samantha who is the freak-a-leak of the crew).

In a nutshell these 4 ladies react exactly how you expect them to & you're basically spoon fed for this entire movie without a question or thought, "what would I do if I were in her shoes"....whelp no need to worry because I'm sure that Martini you sneaked into this movie is going to be the only good part in your experience, it's risk taking, classy and makes the movie go by much faster so you don't have to waste your time listening to Carrie bicker at her husband about BS. This movie only showed me how much more of a guy I am than a woman. Stereotypes are real time savers and saving your $ from NOT seeing this movie would probably make your life A LOT happier....I'm just saying.

There are times when I'm so excited about the news I hear I want to share it with the world and then, there are times when I want to scream and ask God why.....this is one of THOSE times. Tyra Banks is coming out with a book fantasy series about models.....................what a stretch for her right?....I'm sure it'll teach little girls around the world valuable lessons about the catwalk and how rewarding the life of starving yourself to fit into a dress is. Gross....I don't know which part I'm more upset by, the fact that the book company is allowing a book series to be distributed by her...or her existance in life period.

It's about a girl trying to keep up with the beauty "game" at an elite school for supermodels....I'm pretty sure there's a show that failed on the CW that had this plot already. It takes you to a fantastical place you've never seen, or heard about, or read about before *cough cough* where dreams come true and life can change in the blink of a smokey eye..........

I just threw up in my mouth. If you don't watch any of her programs/ buy her products etc. you actually INCREASE brian activity and can gain more brian cells....I think there's actually science that backs this theory up.

the unwritten rules of baby showers

OK folks, I have an issue. It has to do with the unwritten rules regarding baby showers. I love going to a baby shower don't get me wrong. I think that they're extremely cute, it's a big wake up call to me in terms of inventions that I could use when it comes to that time in my life where I will want to have some kids (not yet though). BUT...lets be clear about this (because I have gotten into a few arguments regarding this), ladies please note this because from the personal poll I took 85% agreed with me.

When you have your first child, it is perfectly ok to have a baby shower and expect your friends and family to come through since it's your first time and there are lots of mothers out there that may be able to hook you up with some much needed items. BUT...when you are on your second kid and there isn't a 12 year age difference between your kid and the upcoming new born, PLEASE DO NOT HAVE ANOTHER BABY SHOWER. It's tacky, it speaks volumes on your "motherhood" and pretty much screams that you're not ready to have another kid and somehow you've managed to get rid of your first borns baby clothes/ hand me downs etc. You made that second decision, not your friends.

With this knowledge please make sure that you never invite me to a baby shower if you're planning on having one for your 2nd or 3rd child. It is NOT ok with many people.

A wonderful woman sent this clip to me today and I MUST get everyones opinion on this one. How did a little kid steal the attention of someone that was dancing on STILTS? Also, I'm mad that this kid grabs his crotch like he knows what to do with it, when really...he's at the age where he's just learning how to tie his own shoe laces by himself...I mean really parents? Music for 2009 into 2010................what can I say about it........more importantly what can I say about this years Grammy's?......Lady Gaga....I expected something much more over the top. I fell in love with your blood drippin' face from the VMA's last year...so I guess maybe my expectations of your stage performance was much higher. Oh well, I just think you could have done more, I believe that CBS held you back from going deeper.

Overall the Grammy's this year was watchable, meaning I watched the entire show from start to finish without turning the channel. BUT...what really made you awesome to watch was my parents trying to watch it and not understanding everything that was happening. My dad did a really great impression of Lil Wayne which I captured on my cell phone for my own enjoyment on a rainy day. My mom's comments like, "Beyonce married Jay-Z??....why...look at him" made my tear ducks drip with joyous laughter. I recommend watching anything with lots of current top chart selling artists with a generation that would rather watch paint dry then have their ears subjected to what is considered "music" now-a-days. I'm also pissed that I wasn't given a good heads up about the 3-D portion of the show when they paid tribute to MJ....seriously, I needed 3-D glasses for that part :-( ....I could only imagine what the random parrot on the side of the screen and butterflies could have looked like if I saw in through my 3-D glasses....or maybe I'll just go outside and to the zoo & do those things for FREE (what a concept). Who was missing at the Grammy's this year....ALICIA KEYS...I didn't even notice but my own father was like, "I guess her song was wrong, If I can Make it Here, I can make it anywhere....she couldn't make it to LA from NEEEW YOOOORK"...good one dad...

My girl Taylor Swift...how can you hate that little girl? It's just like what Katy Perry said when Kanye West interupted her acceptance speech....(he wasn't invited to show up at the Grammy's either...hmmmm wonder why...idiot)...she said, talking ill about Taylor Swift is like stepping on a basket of kittens....TRUE STORY...she was beyond excited about winning Best Album of the Year (which she deserved and earned). So now my dad wants to see her when she comes to DC to perform this month....................................interesting dad...very interesting. Reminds me of when one of my college professors was a HUGE Ashley Simpson fan :-) Oh music industry...you've reached beyond the demographic you set out to grab hold of this year, congrats.

Pro's of working in radio...you get to see the up & coming artists signed to the major labels perform during your lunch break. Vita Chambers was that artist today and she really is a talented little lady :-) She's got a lot of experience for her age in terms of performing (she's only 16 yrs.), but now-a-days lots of kids in pop are around that age as it is. Well I'm at work today on MLK Day...thanks pointless media day for making me show up when every place else on earth is reflecting and remembering MLK today and NOT AT WORK! I'm just surfing the web trying to kill time until my office time is no longer!!!! Anyways, I digress. I was searching for stuff that I could get for my new apartment online (tables etc.) and realized how much crap Craigslist actually has on there. So (as any normal bored person), I started looking at the "personal" section. What I saw made me laugh/ cry on the inside. Most (if not all of the men) either talk like they're a creepy 60 year old person who still uses the word "lover" or a complete freak that I may fear my life for if I met in person. Do people actually use this to find "the one"...do people still try to find "the one" anymore in general??? Probably not, they just settle for whatever is closest to them, or whoever is on the same page as them at the time.

I love fashion...I love the originality of most of the outfits I see now-a-days. I love how people are all trying to be different, but end up looking the same as well as looking like followers and then get mad when someone calls them out on it because they just really want to never blend in with the crowd. But what I REALLY deeply love and would NEVER attempt to wear are the MC Hammer looking pants....just after looking at this picture you can see the uncomfortable pain in the models face. $500 bet you she'd never be caught wearing those pants on her average day out...although some stylist that was producing the shot, really felt the need for her to wear what looks like a shirt that she put on her legs instead and just gave up......well it does!

Anyfart, I'm over them trying to bring these MC Hammer pants back and I would really like for the fashion world to GIVE IT UP and TURN IT LOOSE. Those breezy days are over, just like those pants.

Well USA, you've proven me wrong and uplifted me (which is hard to do), what's the secret? MODERN FAMILY on ABC.........have you ever watched it? If you have any respect for what sitcoms USED to be made of (clever, witty remarks, while still holding onto a plot) then you'd know about this show already. I'm not into shows that are an hour long, because it's about 20 minutes worth of straight ads.............boooooooooooooooo............but with half hour programs you get 20 minutes of golden quick wit puns! YES PLEASE!

I've longed for a show that wasn't so over the top (what my favorite show It's Always Sunny in Philly has turned into as of recent seasons unfortunately); but still had humor built in with strong characters that aren't too stereotypical. This show fits them all, all other shows have failed....well Parks & Recreations is a close following...and I have a back & forth relationship with 30 ROCK. But Modern Family has a delicate balance of clever under-toned jokes, mixed with actual meaningful realistic morals, all the while making me addicted as each new episode fills my screen. Thanks ABC, for finally giving me a show that doesn't make me feel like an ass for liking it! Thank you.

I really dig her song called "Tik Tok" since the moment I heard it on the airwaves & I was crackin' up in bed the morning I woke up to it. Felt like I needed to get ready to leave to party somewhere, instead of just getting up and rollin' on over to work...when you hear it you'll completely understand. I've checked out some of her other songs online. One titled, "BLAH BLAH BLAH".....ok, so it reminds me of M.I.A without the clever/ political messages/ tonelessness (kinda hum-singing style where anyone can pick it up as long as it's catchy enough), which seems to be famous and keep the POP $$$$ rollin' in these days. The day of the ONE HIT WONDER's has blasted us again and Kesha is part of that band wagon. To be honest I'm not sure what she's thinking, she's pretty young (21 yrs) and it's hard to have creative control when you're new to the scene especially with the FANG hungry labels that completely turn artists inside out if they're semi-weak from the get. This might be that girl. She's also got this YODILLING (where's my spell check?) style that Shakira does which is really annoying when she's singing. When I saw her I did NOT think that she'd look the way she does. I thought she would be mixed or Hispanic and wore bamboo earings or something....but she looks like any hipster/ Cali style kid that bleaches their hair blonde and gets fed into the entertainment machine in LA LA LAND.

She hasn't proven to me that she has any vocal talent what-so-ever. In an interview with VENUS MAGAZINE she talks about how her style is like the Rolling Stones, old rock...................................................................wrong answer, maybe that IS what she's INTO personally, but that's NOT reflected in her music in any shape or form. Maybe she was just trying to be funny...I can't tell. Now it could be that due to FLO RIDER finding her first and having her cut the club hit 'TIK TOK' she's already being pulled in that direction of HIP POP...but usually that just means that she's going to end up a flop......so let it be TIK OK.......wait maybe I should get paid for rhyming the way I just did!!?!?!?!?! Review on Chris Rock's film "GOOD HAIR"

Growing up where I did, I was fortunate enough to actually know what folks were talking about when it came to perms, flat irons etc. etc. etc. even though I'm basically just white (well if you saw me at least that's all that you'd think of off first impressions). Chris Rock's new film "Good Hair" focuses on the most basic thought that every Dominican/ African/ African American female will hear or think about at some point in her life, which is "do I have good hair?"

Well defining GOOD is like defining BEAUTY; it's completely different per person. One thing that does pop up more than once in this film is something that cuts to the root of every woman, SECURITY. It seemed that the women that believed they were getting, or had "good hair" were the ones that also believed that they were more secure individuals, as opposed to the other females that were trying to mimick the women they saw as beautiful with "good hair." It's unfortunate and cuts deep across the racial line because ALL females feel the magnifying glass being put on them as early as age 3 regarding their physical beauty! That's right...how many boys do you hear running around giving a sh** about how they look, if they smell good etc. etc. etc.? ZERO that's how many, especially not at an early age.

A strong point was made when Chris asks a group of high school girls if the girl with the afro would get a job if she came to an interview sporting her own natural given afro (aka: the natural hair she had)…the girls with the perms believed that she wouldn't get the job. There were 4 out of 5 girls that had perms that were asked this question by Chris Rock. We have a huge racial issue in this country already, icing on the cake is that these specific students in this fine nation of ours believed before they'd had a chance to really conduct professional interviews that they don’t stand a chance if they walk into the office sporting their natural God given hair without ANY products put in it. Hippy response? Perhaps,…the truth? Definitely. I don't want to toot my own horn, but good lord, these girls need to really understand that your hair is like clothes you sport, it's just one way of expressing who you are, it doesn't MAKE you who you are. And if the highering staff can't see beyond the hair, then THEY'RE the ones with the judgement problem and nobody should want to work for a company that doesn't value their employee, just how their hair is, give me a break. It's not like the girl was rolling in looking like she just woke up, her due was HER OWN HAIR and it looked damn good on her too. Remember the old fashioned saying, "never judge a book by its cover" it's time to really act on that folks.

Year in Review of 2009

2009 has been an interesting and sad year for me and my friends. I've seen A LOT of good & bad. So many people have passed this year that has mostly been a total shock for me & others, (part of life I know, but hard when you see it unfold before your eyes). To all of you who have lost someone that was close to you, let me first say that I am truly sorry that you're going through this and that I hope that you have had some closure and time to see the world in a different light and that maybe this will help you grow and take control of parts of you that you had lost before. We always learn something with each thing we loose in life, so it's important to know the lesson in each chapter of your life. As for the not so serious notes parts of 2009 here's my list:

- Snuggies!!!! Yes those corny commercials sold me on getting one for my dad this Christmas. And let me say it is Luxurious Fleece indeed, if there is such a thing as they claim in their infomercial.

- Best movies: The Hangover, Up In The Air, Coco Before Chanel

- Best Albums: Jay-Z, Wale, Lady Gaga, Lilly Allen, Kings of Leon

- Best moments: Kanye West taking away Taylor Swift's award speech at the VMA's, Play It Off Keyboard Cat on Youtube.com,

- My best trips: California (LA & San D to see 2 of my fabu ladies was amazing and made me want to move out there in a flash), Vegas (during a large rodeo, always a plus w/ real cowboys), NYC (where all the magic is and where I will eventually end up).

- Best exhibit: Brian Jungan (Canadian/ Native American artist) at the Native American Museum in DC, the way he used every day objects & furniture was simply amazing. His eye to be able to transform them into art was thinking completely outside of the box and is worth a trip since it will be there through the summer of 2010.

- Best Magazine RIP: Missbehave

- Best new discovered web sites: Yelp.com (restaurant/ museum/ club/ lounge/ event review site), thepeopleofwalmart.com (because we all need to feel better about ourselves).

- Best new lounge in DC: Policy (Tues. nights)

- Best new goal in life: Make your own happiness and learn how to maintain it to the best of your ability no matter what the obstacles.

- Best idea for the food industry: GET RID OF ALL THE CUPCAKE SPECIALTY STORES THAT CHARGE $5 FOR ONE CUPCAKE.

OK so to be honest, doing a year in review can be pretty tough considering how much I've been sucked into my job and own personal life and haven't been heavily influenced by outside things that many of the rest of the world have seen or been affected by. We got a new president, everyone leaned towards that good old fashioned word, "HOPE." Not to knock on Obama, because I do like the guy, (people really fell for the campaign though, which was strong and the first of it's kind using the technology outlits it used...mainly because of the demographic that was working on the campaign which was a fairly young crowd). But anyone that would have taken over couldn't fix the sh** that George W left from his 8 years in office. With that being said, everyone fell for the same miracle word in "HOPING" that every American issue would be solved within his first year in office, clearly that's not the case and NOBODY would ever have been able to do that, so folks, lets just get over it now and if you can control your own issues and figure out a solution, HELP YOUSELF, stop depending on the government to help solve all of your issues. (sorry for the run on sentence there) Here's a simple thought and might be my Jerry Springer FINAL THOUGHT of the day: With all problems, there is a solution, it may take some time to figure out, but there IS a solution because there are no problems that don't have a solution.

The unfortunate folding of magazines…..is it really that bad? All magazines seem to cater and be extremely specific and there's about 300 million types that all talk about the same sh**. So really in the end, who is missing the fact that all of these magazines are going down the drain (except for those that work for them and lost there jobs)?

Do we really need to be completely saturated with 40 different types of magazines that tell us how to make pumpkin pie before Thanksgiving? Or great gifts for under $20? It's the same sh** every single year! If anything, this simplifies all of the over-saturation of topics that everyone has seen over and over and over again. Tips on this that and the other. It's one to show off something new, it's another to realize that everything being written about has been written about for the past 20 years.

Just found out that you can get EYE HERPES!!!!!.....How did this come about? No no no....it's not me, but there was a news report that stated that some folks (living in one section of town) that came to get their eye brows waxed at a beauty spot ended up walking home with a fresh set of Eye Herpes.....best part is there isn't a cure yet. Just something to keep it calm like regular sexually transmitted Herpes.

Just like everything in life, things CHANGE, for better, for worse and for unknowns. I'd like to share a little bit of technology news, along with some already known news, and some surprising news.

- Tech news: Conde Naste (the publishing company), is finally jumping on board with the decline in printed news stand sales and directing their efforts towards iPhone apps where they will have all of their magazines available to subscribers to view from their phones for a small monthly charge (about $2.99 a month). Although this would cut some employees from their current positions, it would in turn employ others that are working in the technical side of the industry with these new changes. This is good news in some ways (less cutting down trees for paper distribution) hurray ENVIRONMENT!!!! But, annoying since more people will be on their phones focused, oblivious to their surroundings and will probably need some other type of glasses from hurting their eyes looking at the tiny font on their phones. But, this does show how the printing industry is looking at other options to still stay on the scene and not die out. Very smart.

- Balloon Boy: This sounds like a sad reality TV show that Bravo would be more than happy to produce in the future. So this whole fake kid in a balloon stunt....shows how sad of a society we live in is (considering all that's happening around the world that HAS killed people etc.), for some reason our society seems to be fixated on this whole crazy family with bad parenting skills. SO WHAT, isn't that the culture that we've created with the TV programming that we get to pick from? A reality TV show escape of realism and drama? This "father" IS getting the reality TV show he wanted to get (even though he's not getting paid); but his exposure is coming from having every "major" news team on site to tape his every move. WHO CARES!?!?!!? Apparently these news sources WANT us to care, but I certainly don't. I don't even know the whole story, all I know is that there are still folks out there that confirm the term "CRAZY" and nothing can change them from being that way, that's just who they are, this is one of those cases. End of story. Federal Offense, FINE, give him the charges and move on people, it's not THAT interesting anyways.

- Scarlett Johansson: She can sing!!!!! for the love of God, I can't believe that this girl actually has a unique singing quality to her voice. Now I KNOW that there are A LOT of haters out there of her (I'm suprisingly NOT a hater of her), but she really kinda DOES have it all in the palm of her hands. Why do people wear jean colored tops with jean colored pants?????? When did that become the American Dream? I'm highly offended when I see it, it's like when a bird gets hit with a baseball bat....that's EXTREME, but you get the point.

It's also similar to when folks wore all leather outfits, like comedians from the 80's and early 90's (Martin L. & Eddie M. to be exact). They looked like a giant leather oven mit on stage sweating like they were a fat guy running from the police. I think that for Halloween someone should dress up like that and when someone asks them what they are their response will be, "I'm re-god-damn-diculous that's what I am"

Kanye West apologized for what he did to Taylor Swift the night before at the VMA's, but here's the tricky part....NOBODY is buying it. Kanye West had a chance to go on the new Jay Leno Show last night to make his "public" apology, but in all honesty he owes TAYLOR SWIFT the apology, not us. Seriously, that's the only thing anyone that has a fault and needs to own up to it should do, go to the source. Isn't this BASIC apology method??? This makes it seem even WORSE to me in all honesty because he's still looking like she's SHOWING OFF, like he has something to prove to us. Kanye, take your seat homie, we don't need to hear it, the SOURCE that you owe does, and we have yet to know that it's taken place.

If you missed out on the VMA's last night, then you truly missed out. Not only was it filled with DC's very own Wale filling in performances during the commercial breaks for all of the audience there (They played the UCB song, "SEXY LADY"...I KNOW THAT'S RIGHT!), but there was some SUPER unscripted parts of the show and if you haven't heard about what happened already, then here's your first taste of what went down.

Kanye West was being "KANYE WEST," remember the "Bush does not care about black people" during the fundraiser for the Katrina victims? And his other rants and raves that really NOBODY truly cares about except for the ones that want to be like him, (not a good thing either, he's a HORRIBLE role model, he's a beat maker, that's his only skill and he does that well, he should just stick to that, I honestly don't CARE about his opinions or any other celebrity's opinions for that matter). So when Taylor Swift won the first award of the night, for Best New Music Video over Katy Perry, Beyonce and Lady Gaga, Kanye West took it upon himself to go up on stage, take the mic from Taylor Swift as she's doing her thank you's and put Beyonce on the spot (who was just as shocked as the rest of us were) by saying, "Beyonce's video was the best video this year"....................ummmmmmmmm "Dear Kanye West, SHUT THE F*** UP, NOBODY GIVES A SH** ABOUT WHAT YOU THINK. SIT YOUR A** BACK DOWN LIKE THE REST OF THE AUDIENCE AND FOR ONCE TRY NOT TO BE THE CONSEEDED IGNORANT DUDE THAT YOU COME OFF TO BE TO THE REST OF US ON THE REGULAR" I can't WAIT to see what everyone else says. You know through all these rough times for everyone that's been effected by the recession etc. it's good to know that those that sometimes FLAUNT their $$$$ way too hard, can turn around and give something BACK to the people. Rapper Ludacris has clearly shown us his own Robin Hood ways by giving away 20 cars this past Sunday to people who wrote about their struggles to keep their jobs for lack of wheels of their own. The rapper partnered with an Atlanta dealership to donate cars to winners of an essay contest. Every person that won a car, also got free gas for 30 days.

I KNOW THAT'S RIGHT LUDA!!!!!! Now if only DC folks could share in the same way...free Metro Fair Friday's!!??? Why not? Don't they owe us for risking riders lives every single day when we board those trains?...exactly.

Since I'm on the topic of giving, why not combine two things that I truly believe makes the world go round...drinking & the environment....that's right, TODAY (if you're in the DC area), you can throw back a cool refreshing drink that's environmentally friendly at this Dupont Lounge. Greendrinks DC will be debuting a green themed cocktail and Current will be offering discounts on various drinks until 9:30pm tonight. The catch for this specific event is that you have to sit through a book talk about the "D.C. Metro Area Green Careers & Jobs Guide" but lets be honest....is that such a BAD thing to sit through? There's a reason that I didn't want to physically go to the movie theatre to see this movie when it first came out. Probably because I knew deep down that it would go STRAIGHT to DVD soon after it was released....it was and it did, so I Netflix'd it and watched it on a drizzly night when there was nothing else to do. So now here's my personal movie review of it.

First, lets start off by acknowledging that Beyonce really didn't have to take any type of acting courses for this roll, she played herself, just added a KID to the situation. The chick who plays the OBSESSED co-worker....over-acted as well. Or maybe it was just the role, but it was EXTRA....you know what happens right? Woman starts temping at a firm, meets attractive yet completely dedicated husband (married to Beyonce) and decides that she is now completely in love with him and obsessed, she keeps harassing him, setting him up and he honestly doesn't do anything about it because he's freaked that she will file a lawsuit against him since mostly males do this to females not the other way around. So that's the dynamic of the situation. She starts to break into Beyonce's house, tries many times to steal the husband away, essencially rapes him by putting a date rape drug into his drink and then BAM....Beyonce & this chick are fighting in Beyonce's house. Best part (and by BEST, I mean the WORST) is at the very end when Beyonce comes out of her house (after she fights the woman who broke into the home) and she hugs her husband as the cops go into the house, and it's a fading freeze frame of Beyonce hugging her husband as her own song starts playing into the credits..........................................................................................REALLY!?!?!????????? I mean, it couldn't have been worse...........I don't know how you could make anything as bad as that.

That's it, I'm done. Please get Beyonce OFF of the movie screen, that girl is not acting, he's being herself EVERY SINGLE TIME.

REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATL...at it AGAIN...

I'm sorry about the delay, but there's just been soooooooooo much going on that's been cracking me up that I somehow didn't get a chance to write about the first episode of season 2 "Real Housewivse of Atlanta"..........how could I miss an opportunity like that you might ask yourself? Well, here's the deal if you didn't catch it and missed out on last seasons DRAMA.

There are only a few folks that truly matter on this show, there isn't a single female on that show that I personally can look up to, maybe Ne-Ne because she's always telling the truth, but she's EXTREMELY LOUD about it, which knocks her down on the "class" level in my eyes. But the GOOD NEWS is that she now wears bra's!!! Again, if you missed out on the 1st season, then you wouldn't understand how crucial this aspect of the show WAS for me, as well as MANY others. I guess enough folks wrote about her, for her to realize that her big a** needed them. The only other person on there that is worth a damn and is any good is Lisa...I'm not sure that bringing another member of the former R&B group EXCAPE is really going to pull in more ratings (Kandi is the replacement for DeShawn and according to what I've read and heard, she slept with Jermaine D. which split up the group back in the 90's and she's been sleeping her way to the top ever since within the music industry....not sure if ALL of that is true, but she did confess to messing with JD on a popular NY radio show a few years back so maybe that is how she rolls, we'll see). I think I liked it more, when I didn't know who was who, seems like folks from the 90's music scene who fell off are calling for desperate measures by jumping on the reality TV train in my opinion. Adding another woman with more issues than one person should handle isn't the BEST idea (the guy she's getting married to has 6 kids already, she only has 1 from a previous relationship..who's the daddy? I have no clue and don't really care, unless it's JD's LOVE child, that would be something wouldn't it???)....but damn, it sure is entertaining.

So in a nut shell, everyone on that show has issues (as usual), but this season is going to be SOOOOOOOOOO much more than anyone should realistically deal with in life, that I'm SUPER F-ing happy! It makes me feel extremely content with the things I have in my life. Nothing can touch that, some people are just DRAWN to drama......insert ALL female cast members from this season...HERE.

GreenDay makes Semra a happy woman

Last night I got two free tickets to check out GreenDay at the Verizon Center in DC from the Verizon Wireless event I organized over the weekend for DC101. Needless to say, I had an AWESOME dinner & Sangria with my girl and then we rolled on over across the street to check out a band that I've been listening to since they first came on the scene in 1995 (7th Grade for me....God I'm old). Anyways, I wasn't sure after all these years how the crowd would be or even how the show would be in general. I have to say that I was completely surprised in a GOOD way that I was NOT the oldest person at the concert! There's apparently groups of parents that were fans, not there with their kids. I also noticed that all of these teenager fans were still dressed in the grungy style clothes that my generation did back in the 90's! I guess not much has changed in that department....for the new generation of high schoolers (unless you're into Kanye West and his whole style).....I'm getting off track.

Best parts about this concert:

-awesome seats away from the Mosh pits and crowd surfers (I'm too old for that mess now)

-I knew almost every song that they played (that's how many hits they have had to this day)

-their stage set was ridiculous (in an awesome way, wish I could show you, but I 4got my cam) :-(

-they totally get the crowd involved with their entire show; they pulled this guy on stage that played guitar along with them for 2-3 of their songs, (he was actually really F-ing good). They let this other guy get on stage and sing one of their first hits EVER "Paradise." They shoot out T-shirts with those T-shirt guns you see at sporting events into the audience and everyone went CRAZY for them.

-I did not sit down once for the entire 2 1/2 hour set when they were on stage

- they didn't have an opening band, so it was straight from getting to the arena, to them coming out on stage within 10 minutes (awesome timing on my part since we didn't enter into the place until 45 minutes after the doors were opening for folks to roll on in).

All in all, they're hands-down AWESOME in concert if you haven't checked out a really good band, then you should really go to one of their shows when they come your way....seriously. I don't even own ANY of their albums, but I knew all of their songs since they have like 30 radio hits in their entire music career!

Well the race ball has rolled into our lives again, with the current "news" story where two sisters living in Long Island with their family have been stopped at malls, and on the street by strangers asking them if they're Obama's daughters. Not only are the people that are coming up to them the dumbest people on earth (really?...you wouldn't think that secret service would be all over the place with their daughters just wondering the mall??? Stupid as dish water), but these strangers are also oblivious to how racist their mind subconcsiously is. Thinking it is one, blatently saying something ignorant out loud is another. Congrats to you Long Island, you've now become the second most racist place in the states that I most likely will never go to....just like South Carolina.

Now here's MY comment....lets go back to this one that was released a few weeks back as well....

I AM NOT A MONSTER

Here's a few things I DO know about abusers, they usually learn it because they've been abused themselves as a child, there's no doubt in my mind that he went through this. I've heard things here and there about his step-dad and his mom abusing him. But here's the catch....SAYING one thing and then DOING another counts. Example, him going on the Tyra Banks Show and telling the viewers that he would never treat a woman like that because he knows what it's like is fine, but then being a hypocrite because you can't control yourself and don't know how to handle a heavy situation and then HITTING someone that you're dating is flat out WRONG. There's no excuse for this EVER. Chris Brown F-d up, he hit a woman, he lied to everyone (on the Tyra Banks Show), we all make mistakes in life, BUT this one literally can not be excused.

When I say mistakes I'm talking about getting in an arguement over something that wasn't worth while and got blown out of proportion and you were to blame for the arguement etc.

This case is NOT that, this is a direct decision that was made on HIS behalf and guess what happens when you do something like that Chris? You get MARKED. You will now be put into the R Kelly catagory when it comes to how you are socially, you have the "S" across your chest for LIFE and you made that decision, nobody else, DEAL WITH IT.

That's the thing folks, you get to MAKE decisions, and when you make them, just know how they can turn out if it's a BAD one on your part. Some things you cannot be forgiven for, like killing someone (when it wasn't in self defense, but just out of spite or anger) OJ, this is why everyone was watching your every move waiting for you to F up and in time you DID...again.

BET Awards 2009

So I watched the ENTIRE show of the 2009 BET Awards last night...and I must say, I WASN'T disapointed. I was impressed, probably because I work in media so I know how flipping almost an entire awards show is BEYOND impossible to accomplish successfully in 3 days, but here's the ingrediants that you would need to pull it off the RIGHT WAY:

1) make Jamie Foxx the host (he's good at improv, singing, comedy, he's on POINT with all your hosting needs and filling in time)

2) make the dedications to MJ subtitle with your own versions of your favorite videos/ styles of him.

3) don't be extra and show humanity...which MOST of the artists there did surprisingly, they showed MUCH respect to the tragic circumstances

So that's my analysis on the BET awards this year. If you didn't know why this was so impressive let me break it down for you. After MJ passed away on Thursday this past week, BET re-did all those that were set to perform, and they all had a MJ theme, or performed one of his songs. But they actually did this successfully! I also must note something that my roommate brought up, which is that we both suspect that Usher / Justin Timberlake etc. were not picked to perform ANY MJ songs because they're straight copy cats of his original style and wouldn't have done this well or tastefully at all. She also said that she believes that MJ's family made specific requests of who should NOT perform (those who never had a relationship with MJ, vs. those that did). What you SHOULDN'T do at the BET Awards, only give Beyonce awards, let Soulja Boy perform what he considers a "song" (it was just a mono-tone consistant noise like a fog horn), don't promote the worst shows to come up this year on your network either (ex: Tiny & Toya)

Oh yeah and Jay-Z killed it with his new song Auto-Tone check it out HERE. Basically he's knocking on all the new "hip hop" artists coming out with what I consider GARBAGE MUSIC because it is, no meaning, just some straight bull sh**. Tired of it, and glad that Jay came out with something new that addresses just that. LETS REVIVE REAL HIP HOP FOLKS!!! I'M MISSING IT LIKE NO OTHER!!! Oh yeah and ALICIA KEYS LOOKED BEYOND BEAUTIFUL, can't say sh** about her other than she's one of THE BEST out there. HANDS DOWN!

The Washington Post went to all the top bars in DC and linked up with the best bartenders who make their own version of the SUMMERS BEST Cocktails........

1) The Mylan (makes one cocktail)

- 3/4 ounce agave syrup or nectar

- 1 large slice cantaloupe, peeled and cut into 4 one-inch chunks

- 1 1/2 ounces blanco or silver tequila Ice

- 1 1/2 ounces pils or pilsner-style beer

2) Thai's the Limit (makes 4 cocktails)

- Ice

- 6 ounces gin, preferably Plymouth

- 4 ounces Domaine de Canton (ginger liqueur)

- 8 ounces coconut mix

- cilantro leaves cut into thin strips

(to make the coconut mix you will need to make the following)

- 27 ounces (2 cans) coconut milk, preferebly Chaokah brand

- 1 stalk lemon grass, pulverized

- 1 ounce ginger root, peeled and grated

- 1 small Thai (bird) chili, stemmed and minced (not seeded)

- 3/4 cup of sugar

- 6 ounces applejack, preferably Laird's

- 3 ounces Lillet Blanc

- juice of 3 lemons

The Cross National Collaborative on Youth Health & Gender Issues (CUSAG) through the University of Maryland (Cultural Systems Analysis Group). It's a program developed to promote and apply research, training & technical asistance to a specific cause; it's intended to take Baltimore-Washington area high school kids to Jamaica and areas in the caribbean, and advance the knowledge and methods of addressing health problems and risks that young Urban children face on those islands, as well as in the USA. Through this program, students will learn and teach others as well as be exposed to lands that are outside of their norm. The program focuses on two major issues: (1) sexual reproductive health, (2) violence crime, incarceration.

What would your money go towards? It would get the kids that need to see and share and be part of a movement GET THERE, it would give them the materials that they'd need to make this a successful experience for them and most importantly, it would benefit your own mind knowing that you contributed to an educational program that actually will change lives positively. THAT in itself benefits us ALL as a whole.

Here are my top 5 facts WHY it's SUPER F-ing important to start changing your way of living by starting to recycle:

1) Recycling creates JOBS. For every 15,000 tons of garbage that is recycled, 9 jobs are created. For every 15,000 tons of garbage that is tossed into a landfill, only 1 job is created.

2) Americans generate 180,000,000 TONS of garbage each year! We generate approximately 4.4 pounds of waste a DAY, per PERSON. It's estimated that 150 million computers will be discarded in the US. These computers will be able to fill a hole that is one acre wide and 3.5 miles DEEP. With the population increasing on a yearly basis, the garbage will also increase. This means clearing land not only for housing but for landfills too. The amount of disposable diapers that are thrown out every year could stretch from the Earth to the moon SEVEN TIMES!

3) Only 1% of the world's water supply is actually drinkable, 97% is salt water found in the ocean and seas, and the remainder is frozen in the polar ice caps. Recycling one ton of PAPER will save 24,000 gallons of WATER.

4) Released CFC's (which contribute to the destruction of the ozone layer which prevents harmful UV rays from giving us skin cancer among other things, produced by aerosol spray cans and air conditioners) can be drastically cut by recycling. If one family recycles all of their waste newspaper, cardboard, glass and metal for a year, 850 pounds of pollutant emissions will be prevented.

5) Recycling one ton of alluminum saves 37 barrels of oil! Recycling one 12 oz. aluminum can saves an amount of energy equal to 6 oz. of gasoline. This could power a fuel-efficiant car for 6 miles!

In a nutshell, making products from recycled materials creates jobs; reduces the need to cut down trees, dig for minerals and drill for oil; makes less pollution; and uses less energy. Lets start making a change people....if you haven't been moved by these facts, I'm not sure WHAT will move you. START RECYCLING NOW!!!

So I'm kickin' back flippin' through the channels and BAM, my brothers bestfriend is on some new show on ABC called 'Here Come The Newly Weds' (Mondays at 10/9c). This is the reason that I HEART my brothers boy Sonarak & his wife Michele. They are hands down hilarious and awesome all rolled into one. I do wish that they would have lashed out harder on the other couples but that's just because I'm a semi-hater on other people outside of my friends & family, but I still love the fact that Sonarak said, "PENIS" during the first episode.

the Hannah Montana conspiracy

I was walking to Subway with my co-worker during lunch...yes my days working at a radio station CAN be extremely boring at times and leaving to go to Subway can sometimes be the highlight of my day. Anyways,...so I'm walking with my co-worker and she and I both had an epiphany about that show Hannah Montana....(because the lady working at Subway always calls me Hannah Montana....why?...because I'm white with brown hair?....no clue, I look nothing like her, seems pretty raciest to me). If you grew up in the 80's and watched most of the cartoons that came out back then, you'll understand this theory that we came up with asit relates to JEM from the 80's.

Basically we both realized that Hannah Montana's show concept and character was already done cartoon style on a program called JEM. Here's my back up reasoning:

JEM lost her father from the very first episode of the show (he passes away), but her father built her a system called Synergy which would allow her to become a singer when she touched her earing and would say, "show time synergy!" But during the day nobody could tell that Jerica and Jem were the same person, it was due to earings and Synergy that she could transform herself into the 80's punk-pop singer.

Hannah Montana does the same thing, her FATHER is involved and knows and helps keep this character stay alive and stay a POP singer. Even though Hannah Montana and Miley Syrus are the same F-ing person, when she changes her HAIR COLOR....she becomes Hannah Montana that EVERYONE is pressed for...........................................

In conclusion, Disney Channel, you suck and still have yet to make up something new. Way to jock JEM's entire storyline and characters from the 80's and use it in 2000.

I heart JEM. F*** Hannah Montana and her little raciest self.....pullin' her fingers to make an "Asian" face and that's not raciest!!!?!?!?? yeah ok, whatever......

No, I'm not talking about Solange Knowles, but GREAT guess. I'm talking about the young female that was sitting on the bus behind me singing a tone-def version of Beyonce's FREAKEM' DRESS song, followed by EVERY other song you would never want to be subjected to hearing while stuck in a small space that you can't change....at least on the Metro you can change which section you're sitting on without waiting another 15 minutes for the next one to show up.

This girl couldn't help herself apparently and EVERYONE on the bus was silent and kept looking back at her to see who was singing with that horrible voice. I've never seen SOOOOO many looks of disgust all at the same time due to one horrid source. I turned up my iShuffle as high as it would go and then pushed the earphones deep into my ear drums (I'm probably def due to doing that now, but to avoid hearing her sing was totally worth it). I'd rather hear Lil Wayne cry like a b**** through a song, than hear this chick "sing" while I'm coming into work early in the AM Monday morning.

Are you SERIOUS tone def b****???

PS- why is there a 4 year old in my office today? Is today "bring your child to work" day? Crap, I hope not. I can't get away from shreaking noises apparently. I hope these kids are actually CUTE and silent, I hope they just sit at a desk and draw all damn day instead of bother me. Thank GOD I'm not the one having to babysit them while at work.
